Activities for infants and toddlers

Sing sing sing

Age range: 0-12 months

Babies really respond well to the sound of their parents singing!  You may be insecure about how you sound, but your baby will love your voice and appreciate every bit of your effort!

Start with the basic kids songs, "Row row row your boat," "Old McCdonald had a farm" and "This old man."  Your baby will love it!

Sticky Notes!

Age range: 12-36 months

Toddlers LOVE sticky notes!  All you need is a pad of sticky notes to have a lot of fun.

If you're teaching your toddler the parts of the body, just have him or her grab a sticky note and stick it to the appropriate part of the body (or if not your body a stuffed animal).  The kids usually think this is just hilarious.  If you want to combine learning colors, you can use colored sticky notes, too!

About Activities

Quality activities help our children grow

The Goal of ActivitiesforBaby.com

Parenting is hard. It's exhausting. Even if you have help and especially if you're the primary caretaker of your child. Kids are truly a wonderful, wonderful addition to our lives, but keeping them entertained, happy and learning something new all day every day can be a daunting task to even the most seasoned parent!

Quality, educational activities designed with you and your child's best interests in mind can provide you both with an opportunity to learn, develop physically, mentally and emotionally, and have a lot of fun in the process! Having a fresh supply of activities on hand can be the difference between frustration and anxiety and a relaxed, well-planned, entertaining afternoon!

ActivitiesforBaby.com recognizes the importance of providing our children with unique opportunities to grow and learn. ActivitiesforBaby.com encourages its members to share infant and toddler activities that will help children learn new skills, develop motor skills and dexterity, enhance sense of self and self-esteem, foster creativity and generally help our kids grow into more prepared, confident and capable young adults.

ActivitiesforBaby.com does its best to monitor the activities posted by its members and keep the activities on the website safe and appropriate. Regardless, it is still the parents' responsibility to ensure that the activities they choose to do with their children are supervised and safe.

Picking the right activities for your child

The goal of ActivitiesforBaby.com is to help you and your children find activities that are age-appropriate and will help your son or daughter learn important new skills while having a ton of fun in the process. Having a great time while engaged in an educational, purposeful children's activity is quite possible -- having fun and learning are not mutually exclusive! It's simply important to identify which activities are best suited for your child.

All children are different and have unique needs and interests. When choosing which baby or toddler activity is best for your child, you will obviously want to utilize ActivitiesforBaby.com's search filter to narrow your activity search results by age, but you'll also want to ask yourself some of the following questions:

  • What are my child's interests? What excites him or her?
  • What skills or capabilities does my child most need to develop?
  • How much time can I reasonably expect my child to participate in a particular activity?
  • What activities will provide my child with an opportunity to try something new?
  • What activities will offer my child a reasonable and healthy challenge?

The right infant or toddler activity will appeal to your child's interests while being different enough from anything he or she has already done to make for a new and unique experience. Different activities serve different purposes. Sometimes your primary motivation may simply be to have a great time and bond with your child -- other times you may wish to select an activity that will be challenging for your child; just difficult enough that he or she will learn determination and problem-solving skills while being able to experience the satisfaction and esteem of overcoming an obstacle and completing a challenging task.

Just remember that although it is essential to challenge your child to develop new and useful skills, it is also important for your infant or toddler to have fun and have an opportunity to express him or herself creatively and genuinely. Some activities may not appeal to your child, and sometimes you may need to attempt an activity more than once for your child to really take a liking to it. ActivitiesforBaby.com hopes to provide enough activities so that no matter your baby or toddler's needs or interests, you will always be able to find an activity that will be right for you and your child.
